Basics of Testing
The Club hosts several test sessions each year. Depending upon the availability of judges, skating professionals, and ice time, some test sessions may not offer every possible test. To determine which tests will be offered at a particular test session, look at the application form for the test session.
If you have any questions about testing, please contact the Test Chair.
Rules for Testing
-
In order to test a skater must be a member of US Figure Skating, either as a member of a club or as an individual member. Testers who are members of clubs other than SCNC must provide a letter of permission from their home club.
-
Applications not postmarked by the deadline must be accompanied by a $30 late fee.
-
A SCNC member testing at another Club’s test session must provide that club with a letter of permission from SCNC. The Test Chair provides this letter. Please request it in advance.
-
All applications postmarked after the due date will be subject to a mandatory $30.00 late fee.
-
Late applications will only be included in the schedule if time permits. If it does not appear that time is sufficient, the skater may choose to come and attempt to test at the very end of the session on a stand-by basis. If there is no time for the test, the skater will be given a refund if payment has taken place.
-
In the event that a test session has more applications than scheduled time allows, the applications will be handled on a first come, first serve basis.
-
No changes to the schedule will take place after it has been posted.
-
Skaters who are on the test schedule and do not test will receive a refund only in the following circumstances:
Medical emergency or illness, with medical note or proof required
Extraordinary circumstances where a majority of the board votes in favor of a refund to the skater.
-
Skaters must be ready to skate at least 30 minutes before their scheduled warm-up.
-
Skaters are responsible for being on the ice for their warm-up and test. A skater who misses his/her turn may test at the very end of the test session, if time and judging panel composition permit. No refund will take place if the test chair is unable to accommodate a skater who missed his/her turn.
-
Judges are not to be disturbed while judging. Do not attempt to contact them during that time.
