Volunteer Service ProgramThe Skating Club of North Carolina (SCNC) continues to grow each year and relies solely upon volunteers for its successful operation. In order to both fund the Club, and encourage member involvement, we will be implementing a Volunteer Service Program for the 2007-2008 year.
How the Volunteer Service Program worksIf 20 hours of volunteer service are performed during the membership year 7/1/07 to 6/30/08) the $100 Volunteer Service Fee (VSF) will be rolled over and applied to the next membership year (7/1/08 to 6/30/09) and you will not be required to pay the VSF in the following year. In addition, if you have met the 20-hour requirement, but do not renew your membership, the VSF will be refunded to you upon written request. However, if you have not met the 20-hour volunteer service requirement, you will be required to pay the VSF when renewing your membership in the following membership year. The volunteer service hours must be performed by an adult (age 18+) in order to count towards the 20-hour volunteer service requirement. This does not mean that those younger than 18 cannot volunteer. We strongly encourage volunteer support from all members, including Introductory Members. This is a great way for students to earn community service hours and for new members to become more familiar and involved with the club. In order to monitor volunteer hours, volunteers will be required to record the hours they work. There are several ways to do so:
We will be logging the hours volunteered from 7/1/07-6/30/08, and hope to send out emails regarding the "status" of your hours towards the end of December, and again in March and June. The completion of the Volunteer Service Form and payment of the fee will now be part of the Membership Application process. Membership Applications will not be processed without a completed Volunteer Service Form and the required $100 Fee from Family/Junior/Senior members. However, in order to transition this new requirement, and provide club members adequate time to pay, members will have until September 1, 2007 to pay the new VSF, if necessary. If the VSF is not paid by September 1, members will be considered “members not in good standing” and will be prohibited from competing and testing until the fee is paid. Beginning with the 2008-2009 membership year, the $100 fee (or evidence of the previous year’s 20-hour volunteer service fulfillment) MUST accompany the membership application. There are many opportunities for you to get involved, and the Volunteer Service Form provides you with the opportunity to identify the areas you would be most interested in helping with. Review the categories listed and then check ALL areas that you might be interested in. You may sign up for additional areas at any time by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator or by contacting the particular Committee Chair. The Club is what you make it! We look forward to a successful new year. Thank you for your support! |
