Club Ice
SCNC offers Club Ice sessions to ensure that our members have access to figure skating ice time solely for the use of SCNC club members.
SCNC members can purchase 20-session punch cards from the Club Ice Chair or from the Club Ice monitor at the sessions. A Club Ice punch card may be carried over from month to month and used until there are no punches left. Unused punches may also be carried over to the next season. 20-session punch cards are $160. If you do not use a punch card, you may pay the $15 walk-on rate per session. Half punches will be allowed, but only on the hour and half hour. Coaches are not charged a commission.
Club Ice Returns!
Just a reminder that Club Ice sessions run:
- Tuesday Sessions - 3:15 to 5:15pm
- Thursday Sessions - 3:15 to 5:15pm
Please support your club by skating on these sessions. We need 17 skaters per 1 hour session to cover the cost of the ice. SCNC members may purchase a punch card for $160. The walk on rate for SCNC members and non club members is $15 per hour. 1/2 hour sessions are available for 1/2 a punch or $7.50.
We also need volunteers to "do the book." This entails making sure that everyone that is on the ice is written down and has either had their card punched or paid the walk on fee. Please email Jenny Komes at jenny.komes@gmail.com to sign up to do the book. This is a great way to earn your volunteer hours. Please remind your skater to "check in" to let the monitor know what sessions they are skating.
Lastly, the IcePlex has spent a week making new ice and painting. Please respect the ice by not kicking it. Also, no yelling by skaters, coaches, or parents, or inappropriate language will be tolerated. All skaters and coaches will be asked to sign a "code of conduct" within the next week or so to be reminded of proper ice etiquette.
Hope to see you there!
Monitoring
We use Ice Monitors to manage the lobby activities (punch cards, log who is skating, and collect walk-on fees) and to play music. This is a great way to serve as a SCNC volunteer. If you can help, contact the Club Ice Chair.
Rules
Skaters must check in with the Ice Monitor and have their card punched prior to getting on the ice. Skaters will be called off the ice to have their card punched if they fail to do this. Club Ice sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions will be capped for safety reasons.
Harnesses are not allowed during Club Ice due to the number of skaters we have on these sessions.
The Club wants every skater to be safe and productive. Before being allowed to skate on Club Ice, you must read and sign the Club Ice Rules. You can download the Rules as a pdf file, sign them, and give them to the Ice Monitor. Club Ice Rules
In case of inclement weather, we typically follow Wake County Schools. We will also try to notify everyone via email.
